This Sunday, October 23rd, is the official Dino Bravo tape release and show! Here's a final look at the making of. It's been a long month of production, but well worth the wait. I'd like to thank Brian & John for helping me out with this release. Come out to the release show and pick one up!
Here's another look at the progress of the Dino Bravo cassette. We love what Brian did with the art! If you're not up on your dead wrestler's life stories...well, neither are we here at Error. What we do know is that the man himself, Dino Bravo, is from Quebec. Hence the Quebec flag being the cover art for their debut release. We also know that he was killed in his home via 9 gunshot wounds. Something to deal with selling, dealing, and the like. Anyhow, the official release of the tape is October 23rd. The 5 songs are available for purchase digitally, for those of you not interested in this really cool, diy, limited (to 50) release. The rest of you can get the physical copy at the release show.
Speaking of shows, here's what's up with Error bands for the next few weeks.
The stamping for the tapes are turning out great! Next week we will post the inserts and the final product. Our good friend Brian Galecki will be finishing up the artwork soon. If you're familiar with his work, then you know it'll look good. Here's a look at the process.
The Dino Bravo tapes arrived this week! So, we figured why not give you a quick look at the start of our production. The first step in our process is to make the master. Then we use this vintage high-speed dubber to duplicate all remaining tapes by hand. It's not as painstaking as it sounds.
The cases for this release were purchased from the IDEA donations store in town. That means each case/copy of the tape will be unique. For the next step, we will stamp the tapes with white paint in block letters. Pics of that will be up soon!
Here's a look into the making of our current release, Maltross/Rvins split. When we do runs of 50 copies, we like to take the production of things into our own hands. We've been DIY since 2008 and that's the way we like it!
You can purchase the release, as well as listen to it in it's entirety.
Here too, is a live video in Chicago of the Rvins track, "The Black Opus".
We had a lot of fun cutting, stamping, and dubbing this release. The next DIY release up is Dino Bravo's "s/t/p", coming out October 9th 2011.
The leaves have begun to change pigments. They enter a new stage in their short-lived lives. With change comes an end, but yet a new beginning. This year has yielded 5 releases for Error Records, and we have 4 more to go before the end of 2011. Here is a shred of light on the things to come before the grass is dead and the animals are all asleep in their warm coves...
Maidens / "Shallows" EP - cassette tape coming November 2011
These Milwaukee natives give you a nice and slow dose of post-metal/sludge/doom. When I say slow, I don't mean boring. We're talking intricately written songs with just the right amount of vocals. You almost think you're listening to an instrumental band when the crushing dual screams kick in and take the song in a new direction. Layering it furthermore. Let's see what you think. FFO: Isis, Cult of Luna, ect..
Here's a song from the tape, as well as the artwork:
If you like what you hear, you can dload their first EP, "Failures" for free.
Dino Bravo / "s/t/d" (self titled demo) - cassette tape coming October 9th 2011
Although the first release for this drum n' bass duo, we are confident in their abilities. Anyone who has witnessed their cage match can adhere to the fact that these dudes rule. We don't have much to share about this release, because these two dudes like to keep it mysterious. Tends to be a trend with C-U bands. If you like the wonderful "sport" of wrestling, loud and sludgy jams that get stuck in your head for days, with a heavy Melvins influence, then you will want to snag one of these limited DIY tapes. Only 50 will be produced. Make sure you come out to the release show. FFO: Melvins, Lightning Bolt, ect..
Our lovely friends from the windy city of Chicago are hitting the studio next week to record for their split with the mid-westerners William Bonney. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to work with these fine gentlemen. They've taken all the heart and raw emotion and put it back into post-idie/harcore style. If you dig their recordings, you will enjoy their live performance more. Make sure you check them out when they play your city. Droughts don't seem to be slowing down any time soon. FFO: Native, Pianos Become The Teeth, ect..
Check out and dload their first EP for free, Unmoved.
Two more local C-U bands have teamed up for a split tape. If you didn't get the crusty, blackened Smoke Coke / Terror Suspect tape, then you truly missed out. You can still get a fair dose of abrasiveness (TDS), as well as some catchy post-hardcore (Rusalka) with this release. Don't sleep on what we believe to be yet another memorable local release. Both of these bands
have a stellar live show. So, do yourself a favor and show up to the release show. The kinks are still being worked out. We will have more info on the actual release date and show when it graces us. FFO: skramz, post-hardcore, visual, ect..
